The Red Bishop

A historical drama inspired by the life of Bridget Bishop

In a community gripped by accusation and fear, a woman who refuses to make herself smaller becomes impossible to ignore.

The Red Bishop is a historical drama inspired by the life of Bridget Bishop, the first person executed during the Salem witch trials. Rather than treating her story as a relic of 1692, the play examines what happens when reputation becomes evidence, suspicion becomes certainty, and a community discovers the terrible power of deciding who does and does not belong.

At its center is a woman confronting a system in which the story being told about her has become more powerful than anything she can say in her own defense. The Red Bishop explores judgment, power, conformity, and the perilous distance between being accused and being known.
